MUNICIPAL BULLETIN – VOLUME 5

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

It is during this festive period that we give a particular thought to those that make it possible to realize community projects.  We want to thank you for your trust and support in all instances.  Please be assured that we are making everything possible to improve the well being of our town.

In difficult times it is surprising to see what we can accomplish when we unite our efforts! We can change the world and make it that one sombre day appears to be sunny; and it's together that we shall succeed!

It is with great pleasure that we are offering all of you our most sincere wishes.  May Christmas be for you a great family holiday where happiness, joy and gaiety will abound in the heart of your home.  May the New Year be filled with promises and that all your dreams come true.

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

From your Town municipal Council and from all the team

THE BAG OF GOODIES
Halloween… A magical and fantastic event that awakens the child in all of us.  Not only is there the disguise and the wandering in the streets but there is also the famous harvest of surprises.  Even if we have to examine the content, most of the time children are delighted with their gatherings: Candies, caramels, bubble gum (sugarless goes without saying) chips and chocolates all come back systematically.

For a few years now, children have been discovering nice and different surprises.  Added to candies (always appreciated by the 2-12 clan) are such things as: Stickers, coloured crayons, and coupons to popular restaurants, amusing erasers, arts and craft accessories such as pearls or even origami paper.  The donors are showing a lot of imagination, which brings great joy to the children, their parents… and mostly their dentist.  What kids prefer is a combination of both.  The secret to success is that the children prepare the bags because they know what is in style and they offer voluntarily their help to choose what will please.

Another way to give thanks

John Marks Templeton claims that each of us should cultivate a sentiment of gratitude in all daily circumstances:

  • in  trying to find everyday reasons to compliment our working buddies
  • in being grateful that the world is made up of 90% blessings and of only 10% problems
  • in developing what comes naturally such as the gift of giving in all aspects of life, such as giving out sound advice, giving thanks, giving attention, giving if we feel alone and lonely, simply by giving!

On this magnificent fall holiday, may you rejoice fully with your family and friends.  Good Thanksgiving everyone!

MUNICIPAL BULLETIN – VOLUME 4

INFORMATION:

DRINKABLE WATER – A CHALLENGE FOR EACH AND EVERYONE!

The most essential resource in life is – drinkable water.  That resource is irreplaceable and, contrary to popular belief, it can be exhausted.  It is important that we realize that this concerns all of us, and that every effort made is of great importance.  Nature has provided us with water, but water management costs money and requires efficiency.  Together we can reduce water wastage.  Water is LIFE – let’s be mindful of that and protect such a resource.

WATERING TIMES (Bylaw No. 149)

Between 8 and 11 pm:

By the municipal office: for residents to the east of Baume street up to Grand-Marais - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

By the Red Bridge: for residents to the west of Baume street up to chemin du Pont Rouge – on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The proper management of water consumption is a mark of respect for the community.

LIBRARY ACTIVITIES

Are suspended during the Summer season.  They will resume in the Fall, with a new program.  We encourage you to visit our national museums in the Summer and to use the free passes available from our representative.

SPRING CLEANING TIME…

The month of embellishment is over, but we still have work to do.  The upkeep of vacant lots and properties… especially when old unused vehicles are used for decoration.

THE DUMP

The day is coming when the collection of household garbage and recyclable matter will become part of our municipal tasks.  Our dump has just about had it, and our new services will help alleviate this problem.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

School is out, holiday time is here.  Please be careful: the unpredictable behaviour of kids in traffic greatly increases the risk of accidents.  We would ask you to be most watchful.  Pedestrians, roller bladers and cyclists are especially vulnerable.

REMEMBRANCE DAY, FINAL NOTICE

There is still time for anyone to submit the names of candidates to be remembered as veterans who died in this country after their return from combat.  Please contact Michel Graveline before July 31.
